Message from the President

First and foremost, I wish to extend my deepest thanks to Maj Kent Griffiths, MMM, CD (Ret'd) for his dedication and leadership to the Institute in 2021-22. Thanks also to the entire 2021-22 Board of Directors, as well as Ms. Brideaux and Ms. Craig, for so ably pivoting the Institute into an effective and capable think tank under the Rocky Mountain Conference on Security and Defence (RMCSD) banner. I’ve been a proud Member of the Institute since 1994 and as your President for 2022-23, I have two primary goals for the Institute: (1) financially sustainability; and (2) a 10-fold increase in RMCSD participation. I look forward to seeing you at our Welcome Back Social at HMCS Tecumseh on Friday, 9 Sep 2022 from 1130 to 1400 hrs. Please reach out to me by email or phone if you have any questions or comments. Col Eppo Van Weelderen, CD (Ret'd) President, RAUSI president@rausi.ca

RAUSI Open House, 9 September |
|
At long last, we can gather to see familiar faces and raise a glass in appreciation of our dedicated volunteers as we "mug out" board members who have ended their terms! We will also mark RAUSI's 100th anniversary, which we were unable to do in 2020. As we looked back on 100 years of service, it reminded us of why the Institute was formed and brought new inspiration to our endeavours. Using this rich base and modern opportunities, we have been expanding our programs to reach a wider audience and ensure RAUSI is a relevant, thriving organization for years to come. Join us to find out more about the upcoming presentations in our Lunch & Learn and Rocky Mountain Conference on Security and Defence (RMCSD) series. Plan to drop in when you can and visit once again with fellow members. RAUSI Open House Friday, 9 September 2022 from 1130-1400 HMCS Tecumseh, Calgary, AB Doors open at 1130. Lunch will be available along with a cash bar 1130-1400. Presentation at 1230. |

RAUSI is a Canadian-based forum for global civilians, humanitarian, military and international police communities to present original thought on trending issues, in their formative stages, as they relate to global security and defence. Formed in 1920 as a think tank, RAUSI later evolved into a service organization for veterans in the decades following the World Wars. In this new era, RAUSI has evolved back into a think tank, publishing original content, curating extant articles, and sponsoring speaker’s symposia which amplify cross-disciplined models of 21st century security and defence. |
