Message from the President
First and foremost, on behalf of all Members, I would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Major Kent Griffiths, MMM, CD (Retired) for his leadership of the Institute as our President for 2021-22.  Your Board of Directors and Committee volunteers are working diligently in transitioning the Institute towards our new vision of becoming a “Canadian-based think tank inviting global civilian, humanitarian, military and policing communities to influence ideas and perspectives on emerging trends in global and regional security and defence.”  The Institute has been named as a Program Partner for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Medal and tasked to submit nominations no later than 30 November 2022. Please watch our website for more information.  I look forward to seeing you in the Wardroom at HMCS Tecumseh for our Open House on Friday, 9 September 2022 from 1130 to 1400 hrs. Please reach out to me by email if you have any questions or comments. Col Eppo Van Weelderen, CD (Ret'd) President, RAUSI president@rausi.ca |

RAUSI Open House, 9 September |
We haven't been able to hold an official RAUSI social since 2019 and members have been asking "when can we get together again?" We are excited to announce an Open House this September! At long last, we can gather to see familiar faces, mark RAUSI's 100th anniversary, and thank volunteers for their service. There were some changes in the Board at the recent AGM. Come raise a glass in appreciation of our dedicated volunteers as we "mug out" board members who have ended their terms! We will also mark RAUSI's 100th anniversary, which we were unable to do in 2020. As we looked back on 100 years of service, it reminded us of why the Institute was formed and brought new inspiration to our endeavours. Using this rich base and modern opportunities, we have been expanding our programs to reach a wider audience and ensure RAUSI is a relevant, thriving organization for years to come. Join us to find out more about the upcoming presentations in our Lunch & Learn and Rocky Mountain Conference on Security and Defence (RMCSD) series. Plan to drop in when you can and visit once again with fellow members. RAUSI Open House Friday, 9 September 2022 from 1130-1400 HMCS Tecumseh, Calgary, AB Doors open at 1130. Lunch will be available along with a cash bar 1130-1400. Presentation at 1230. |

RAUSI is a Canadian-based forum for global civilians, humanitarian, military and international police communities to present original thought on trending issues, in their formative stages, as they relate to global security and defence. Formed in 1920 as a think tank, RAUSI later evolved into a service organization for veterans in the decades following the World Wars. In this new era, RAUSI has evolved back into a think tank, publishing original content, curating extant articles, and sponsoring speaker’s symposia which amplify cross-disciplined models of 21st century security and defence. |
