Major the Reverend Andrew Cameron is a Presbyterian minister serving as a chaplain (padre) with the Canadian Armed Forces. Lieutenant Colonel Stefan Grotewohl, senior analyst at Allied Joint Forces Command Naples (JFC Naples) will present case studies from Bosnia, Kosovo and Mali examining the cultural dynamics of Peacekeeping missions over the past three decades. Cultural encounters have always been a daily occurrence for United Nations Peacekeepers. Integrated peacekeeping missions require our soldiers to work together with other peacekeepers from diverse backgrounds and with local populations they may be entirely unfamiliar with. LtCol Grotewohl will explore the importance of cross-cultural literacy to address challenges encountered with cultural differences. |

On Friday, 21 October 2022, a presentation of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee Medals (Alberta) took place at The Ranchmen’s Club in Calgary. These individuals were selected by RAUSI from Albertans who, like The Queen, have dedicated themselves to family, community, and country. They have each served as role models to the Institute and have made significant and lasting contributions in our communities. Confidential nominations were received to recognize outstanding service and were reviewed by committee to determine the top fifteen of the submissions. It was a difficult decision but, in the end, some amazing Albertans were chosen. Congratulations to all! |

RAUSI is a Canadian-based forum for global civilians, humanitarian, military and international police communities to present original thought on trending issues, in their formative stages, as they relate to global security and defence. Formed in 1920 as a think tank, RAUSI later evolved into a service organization for veterans in the decades following the World Wars. In this new era, RAUSI has evolved back into a think tank, publishing original content, curating extant articles, and sponsoring speaker’s symposia which amplify cross-disciplined models of 21st century security and defence. |
