Zoom Backgrounds

Select a background that provides adequate contrast with you and your clothing, and suits how much of the frame you take up. Hover over your preferred image below, and click to download.

Zoom Setup

• In the Zoom desktop app, navigate to Preferences in the settings menu. On the left side menu, go to Background & Filters.

• You will then see Virtual Backgrounds, where you can upload your own by clicking the plus (+) icon to the right of Video Filters.

Webex Setup

• Webex backgrounds can only be customized if the meeting administrator has allowed the feature.
• Backgrounds can be changed before you join a meeting, or during a meeting, by clicking the Change Background button.
• If you do this before joining a Webex call, this will then bring up a menu of available options, including a choice of virtual backgrounds.
• To change the Webex background during a call, click the Menu icon within your self-view window, choose Change Virtual Background. To use your own image for the virtual background, tap the + icon. After seting up your background image, click Apply.
• Webex will also remember your selection for your next meeting.

General tips for video calls

• Remember that you are always in view.
• Look at your camera when speaking.
• Use additional lighting, such as a lamp, to light up your face.
• Clean your camera lense and eye glasses.
• Close applications that may generate noises (such as email), or impact your bandwidth during the call.
• Wear solid colours or larger graphics. Small stripes or small patterns can create distracting effects.
• Smooth lines work best with virtual backgrounds. If your hair is causing blur, smoothing it out may help.

Additional technical tips from Zoom

• Leave “Mirror my video” checked. Words in your background will look backwards to you, but will read normally to the other meeting participants.
• For the cleanest results, have a solid color in the background - or better yet, a green screen - so that your virtual background shows up clearly.
• Don’t wear clothing the same color as your virtual background. No one wants to be a floating head!
